We Raised $60M
Something beautiful is happening to code.
It can be difficult to discern amidst a flurry of demos, headlines, and waitlists, but AI is changing coding, and it's changing it today. Little by little, the molasses that characterizes building and changing software is being replaced by lightness and control.
Our aim with Cursor is to continue to lead this shift, by building a magical tool that will one day write all the world's code. Already, in Cursor, hours of hunting for the right primitives are being replaced by instant answers. Mechanical refactors are being reduced to single "tabs." Terse directives are getting expanded into working source. And thousand-line changes are rippling to life in seconds. Going forward, we hope Cursor will let you orchestrate AI-powered background coders, view and modify systems in pseudocode, instantly scan your creations for any trace of a bug, and much more.
Knowing there's a long road ahead of us, today we're announcing a few milestones on our progress over the last year…
Cursor has become widely recognized as the best way to code with AI. We've grown to over 30,000 customers, across some of the world's largest enterprises, storied research labs, and innovative startups.
We've formed a fantastic initial team of engineers and researchers, who've won olympiad medals, built notable OSS projects, and published significant research. Together, we've built systems including SOTA next-edit-prediction models, multi-billion-file retrieval systems, and fast code rewrites through speculative inference.
Finally, we've raised $60m in Series A funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive Capital, OpenAI, Jeff Dean, Noam Brown, and the founders of Stripe, Github, Ramp, Perplexity, and OpenAI, along with many wonderful others.
We're incredibly excited about the future of coding. If you are too, perhaps you should consider joining us.
